I believe showing up as you are in therapy is a courageous and healing act. I'm committed to fostering a therapeutic space which encourages greater authenticity, empowerment, & accountability. My wish for all my clients is to feel more themSelves and the inevitable vitality that goes along with that.
In a world that’s increasingly automated, performative, and AI driven, I look to create a space, above all else, that’s honest and accepting of the individual and all of their contradictions. While I can understand the value of a “safe space”, space with me prioritizes courage over comfort, as I have witnessed the most growth when all parts of ourselves are approached. Ultimately, my aim is to help clients feel more alive and complete within themselves.
I primarily use Internal Family Systems therapy, somatic therapy, and psychodynamic therapy. I also am trained in EMDR, clinical hypnosis, mindfulness, and psychodrama, and suggest and apply these when appropriate. My hope is to assist you in applying and integrating practices into your daily life, so you have more trust in guiding yourself.
I believe in your capacity to grow and believe that your pain makes sense. I am committed to meeting you with deep respect and also to holding a clear-eyed vision of who you are capable of becoming. I am adept at helping people discover what is getting in the way, and have observed that the best progress are when clients are willing to develop their own sense of agency. I believe you becoming more of who you truly are (not just who people want you to be) is your greatest gift and contribution to this world, and would love to meet all of you.
I am a registered psychologist, M. A., (#5321) in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists and graduated from McGill University in Counselling Psychology. I have worked in mental health since 2015.
I offer individual therapy and group therapy.
Before becoming a psychologist I worked in environmental education, specializing in waste management and composting. I also owned my own environmentally-friendly soap business, and taught yoga and meditation for 13 years.
I am the first, and the only certified IFS therapist in Alberta as I write this at the beginning of 2023; I participate in regular IFS consult groups, receive supervision, and therapy.
I have attended numerous conferences and completed 4 psychedelic therapy training programs, including the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) MDMA therapy training, and a Ketamine & IFS therapy training with Phil Wolfson and Richard Schwartz.
While spiritual beliefs are never imposed on clients, it does inform how I work. This transpersonal (i.e. expanded consciousness) lens is largely based on personal experiences over the years but has also emerged in various therapy trainings.
I have completed several trauma trainings (e.g. IFS level 2 - trauma) and have received certification as a level 2 trauma professional (CCTP-II). I also draw upon my own personal experience when appropriate.
A number of loved ones have inspired me to specialize in this largely misunderstood area. I have attended ADHD workshops and have completed the ADHD Professional (ADHD-CCSP) Intensive Training course: Evidence Based Strategies for Managing ADHD Across the Lifespan with Dr. Russell Barkley and others.
