I believe showing up as you are in therapy is a courageous and healing act. I'm committed to fostering a therapeutic space which encourages greater authenticity, empowerment, & accountability. My wish for all my clients is to feel more themSelves and the inevitable vitality that goes along with that.
I assist my clients to tap into their bodies to hear the wisdom, and feel more of the power of their true Selves, using Internal Family Systems (IFS), somatic therapy, mindfulness, and transpersonal therapy, to name a few. If you, even if quietly, feel called to shed skin and start anew during this wooden snake year (2025) but notice parts that feel stuck, fearful, and even unwilling, I would be delighted to assist.
My intention is to create a space of courage, respect, and compassion, where you can explore the deepest truths in your being. This exploration may not feel “cozy”. I believe true transformation often requires us to venture into uncomfortable places, and I will go there with you. Having said that, I also want to emphasize that it also doesn’t mean the process is gruelling, dare I say, it can even be playful!
I’m committed to guiding and accompanying my clients towards a fuller version of themselves and towards the empowered role of creative director of their own lives. I am committed to practicing what I preach, and I bring the same honesty, integrity, and self-awareness to our work together that I encourage in you.
I am a registered psychologist, M. A., (#5321) in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists and graduated from McGill University in Counselling Psychology. I have worked in mental health since 2015.
I offer individual therapy and group therapy.
Before becoming a psychologist I worked in environmental education, specializing in waste management and composting. I also owned my own environmentally-friendly soap business, and taught yoga and meditation for 13 years.
I am the first, and the only certified IFS therapist in Alberta as I write this at the beginning of 2023; I participate in regular IFS consult groups, receive supervision, and therapy.
I have attended numerous conferences and completed 4 psychedelic therapy training programs, including the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) MDMA therapy training, and a Ketamine & IFS therapy training with Phil Wolfson and Richard Schwartz.
While spiritual beliefs are never imposed on clients, it does inform how I work. This transpersonal (i.e. expanded consciousness) lens is largely based on personal experiences over the years but has also emerged in various therapy trainings.
I have completed several trauma trainings (e.g. IFS level 2 - trauma) and have received certification as a level 2 trauma professional (CCTP-II). I also draw upon my own personal experience when appropriate.
A number of loved ones have inspired me to specialize in this largely misunderstood area. I have attended ADHD workshops and have completed the ADHD Professional (ADHD-CCSP) Intensive Training course: Evidence Based Strategies for Managing ADHD Across the Lifespan with Dr. Russell Barkley and others.
